Beatrice Phiri, aged 20, is a Second-year student at Cavendish University Zambia, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Public relations. She was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia.

Beatrice is the founder and director of visionary youth for change, a youth-led organization that tries to tackle issues affecting the society through achieving the Sustainable development goals (SDGs).

She has served as a climate ambassador under UNICEF Zambia’s signature child-led advocacy programme unite4climate Zambia, since 2013 when she was trained under the Zambia children’s climate conference. Beatrice currently serves as a Protégé, helping to train and mentor new climate ambassadors.

Beatrice has also served as a youth reporter under Agents of Change foundation since 2015. Through her work with Agents of change foundation, she has been running weekly radio programmes on climate change and environmental sustainability reaching a cross-section of society.

She also currently serves as a member of the United Nations youth partnership platform Zambia (UNYPP-z), a platform that works hand in hand with UN agencies and the Government of the day to try and address problems that youths face on a daily basis and also help achieve a sustainable generation 2030, by putting the SDGs into action.

She has participated in national and international programmes on youth empowerment including educational activities on Hiv/prevention, Sexual reproductive health and child rights. She is a born leader who inspires actions among her peers and fosters a spirit of volunteerism all the time.

Beatrice is an effective public speaker who has volunteered in community-based initiatives on various issues affecting young people in Zambia, including national constitution consultations, HIV prevention and ensuring a Zambia fit for children.
