Syahirah Hamdan a.k.a Syiro is a 23-years-old girl from Malaysia. She studied Genetics and Molecular Biology at University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Upon entering university, Syiro figured out many new things. She learned that the role of a university student is to practice the knowledge and serve it to the community practically. Believing in the idea of a late Malaysian sociologist, Syed Hussin al-Attas, she explored many new things and grow social service grit inside.

In 2015, Syiro and her friends initiated a volunteering team, Teach for the Needs Petaling Jaya branch. They help children in a welfare house near their university. She went for her first international event in 2016. The focus was on Rohingya refugees issue happening in Rakhine state, Myanmar.

Coming back to Malaysia, they pioneered another volunteering team, We Care Rohingya (WCR) focusing on helping a Rohingya alternative education center in Kajang area. After two years, in 2018, a wing of WCR is established, Malaysia Rohingya Academy (MRA). Now, together in MRA as a social enterprise, Syiro and her friends aim to improve quality of education and empower the community.

Believing in education as the key to change, she is now actively advocating rights of quality education for refugees via MRA and plans to pursue her postgraduate study in the same research field.
