Ava- Gail Lindsay is an outstanding young lady who prides herself as a transformational leader, youth advocate and community development enthusiast. She has dedicated her life to service in volunteerism and leadership. With her strong leadership skills, she has served as past president of the St. Mary High School 4-h club, vice president of the St. Mary Parish Youth Council and president of the University of Technology, Association of Nursing Students.
Her mantra is” Go where there is no path and leave a mark for others to follow”. She continues to shine in any area she serves and has received numerous awards for her work such as St. Mary 4-H Girl of the Year, 1st runner-up National Girl of the Year. Third runner up Miss St. Mary Farm Queen Competition, Nurses Association of Jamaica/Lasco Student Nurse of the year 2014-2015, Jamaica Environment Trust, under 25 category awards for outstanding efforts to protect the environment -2011, 2017 Governor General Awardee for outstanding leadership and volunteerism, 2017 Prime Minister Youth Awardee, for commendable work in community service, University of Technology, College of Health Science, Ministry of Health Award for Professionalism 2014-2015, Miss St. Mary Festival Queen 2017 and 2nd runner up of the national Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.
She currently holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and works as a registered nurse. She is the founder of Smart Up Jamaica, a foundation that motivates and inspires youths to function at their optimal level.
