Sokuntheary LY is an International Relations senior student from Cambodia. A youth from a developing country, she grows up seeing the big gap of a number of opportunities to youths in her country, and surrounding social issues, one of which was a high number of migration for jobs resulting in lack of local labor and trafficking in persons. Since a young age, she has aimed to be a part of problem solvers, change maker through empowerment by the virtue of paying back to her society. During her year in university, aside from her academic life, she actively took part in numbers of volunteering in her community. In these past years, she has a remarkably important youth working on various social issues which specifically combating Human Trafficking and Violence Against Children and Women and Promoting Safe Migration, and WASH. She is also one of the four founding members of a youth-led organization, namely ASEAN Youth Leaders Association-Cambodia, working to empower young people in her community. Currently, she serves as a project coordinator on ‘Youth for WASH’, a short study finding. Her in-charge is to study the voices of youths and their concern toward WASH issue in Cambodia.
