Sylvia has over 4 years of experience working in Social Change. She’s the director of Safe Schools Uganda (SSU), an NGO that works to improve children access to quality education. After attending Yali Connect Camp in 2015 in Dara salaam, Tanzania, Sylvia has mentored more than 2000 youth at different levels with the intent to develop them into changemakers who will contribute positively to their communities. Sylvia was appointed Uganda Global Youth Ambassador (GYA) a network of passionate education advocates motivated to take action on global education campaigns with Their world’s A World at School. In 2016, she was awarded the best Advocate of the year in Africa Youth Award (AYA). In 2017, out of 600 applicants, Sylvia was selected among the best 20 social entrepreneurs for a one year’s fellowship program of East African Acumen Fellows, a non-profit global venture capital fund whose goal is to use entrepreneurial approaches to address global poverty founded.
She contested for Participant Engagement Committee Chair 2016(PEC) for Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Center Uganda Chapter (YALI RLC-UGANDA), where she emerged as the winner. In May 2017, she became an independent contractor with Deloitte – Nairobi Kenya. She’s the first Youth from Uganda to represent 500 GYA’s in 80 countries at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA. She was recently named among the 100 most influential Youth in Africa 2017 at Africa Youth Awards. Sylvia is a Lawyer by Profession and Passionate about Human rights and child education.
