Academic Program Specialist position available at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in University of Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, promote, plan, and implement CES and CPPS disciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and cross-regional programs and manage project budgets.
- Working with the WCEE director, CES Advisory Committee, and CPPS Steering Committee, organize lectures, conferences, symposia, and films, and oversee staff providing logistical and technical support (e.g., room scheduling, media equipment, A-V recording, etc.).
- Provide visitor services (travel, visa, honoraria, per diem payments, hosting arrangements, itineraries).
- Develop and review project budgets and initiate and track financial transactions for CES and CPPS programs.
- Coordinate CES and CPPS faculty committees and communications with faculty.
- Organize and participate in staff meetings and cross-center planning.
- Prepare and edit copy for reports, publications, websites, and other publicity for CES and CPPS activities and assist with the preparation of CPPS publications.
- Develop and oversee maintenance of specialized CES e-mail groups.
- Advertise events and academic programs through e-mail communication, print publications, and social media.
- Manage the CES and CPPS Facebook and Twitter accounts, and announcement blogs.
- Implement CES and CPPS student funding opportunities in partnership with the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures and II Academic Services.
Salary Range
$45,000.00 – $50,000.00
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in International Studies or related field, or experience and training in the field of European or East European studies; one year excellent communication and English language skills; ability to handle a variety of tasks and meet deadlines; ability to work occasional evenings and weekends; knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree in European or East European Studies or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proficiency in Polish, or at least one language of the region; University of Michigan experience and familiarity with University policies, rules, and administrative procedures.
