Assistant Professor of Design position is available at the Department of Performance and Communication Arts at St. Lawrence University.

The University seeks candidates with a demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of design courses at the college level, demonstrated excellence as a professional designer, and an active record of creative work and/or traditional scholarship. Preference will be given to candidates with a secondary design focus. Possible courses to be taught include but are not limited to: Scenic Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Props Design/Construction, Scenic Painting, Stagecraft, and Graphic Design for the Arts. The ability to CAD draft is highly desired.

The ideal candidate will be able to articulate a vision for a newly launched dynamic design program, expose students to diversity through theatre praxis, pedagogy, and practitioners, and contribute to the broader performance curriculum, including courses such as Introduction to theatre and/or specialty courses.

Qualifications

MFA or PhD preferred, ABD may be considered.
