The Department of Zoology and Jesus College are recruiting an Associate Professorship or Professorship of Computational/Theoretical Biology with effect from 1 September 2019. The post is full-time and, upon completion of a successful review, permanent. The successful candidate will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship by Jesus College, under arrangements described in the job description.
Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates with a strong background in computational biology or theoretical biology, spanning any of the department’s four broad research themes of behaviour, ecology and conservation, evolution and development, and infectious disease. The successful candidate will have a world-class research programme involving empirical, data-driven research that complements the existing strengths of biology in Oxford. We will also consider applicants with expertise in any area that complements the existing strengths of biology in Oxford.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead a research programme and research group, give high-quality undergraduate lectures and tutorials, supervise graduate students and carry out examining and administrative duties in the Department and the College. She or he will have a doctorate and postdoctoral experience in the field of biology or another science subject appropriate to research in zoology, and an ability to engage in original research in this field.
The salary range will be from £47,263 p.a. plus additional benefits including a College household allowance (currently £13,003 p.a.) or accommodation free of rent subject to availability (see Job Description for further details). An allowance of £2,754 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title. Other allowances are detailed in the further particulars.
