- Director of the Multicultural Center and Access and Student Success will supervise the position.
- Additionally, the position requires energy, strong organizational and leadership skills, experience in conceptualizing, implementing, and assessing new student and family orientations in a highly collaborative work style.
- Furthermore, the Assistant Director will be responsible for coordinating the Center’s operations and academic access and success strategies, facilitating and developing leadership development activities, and providing program assessment
Required Skills
The incumbents will need the following skills and knowledge for the post of Assistant Director at East Tennessee State University
- Knowledge of university policies, procedures, structure and services offered as well as of Microsoft Office and Windows programs
- They must also have knowledge of best practices for access and success of students from underrepresented groups
- Also, they must show the ability to work independently towards goals and objectives
- They should be able to develop and articulate measurable program objectives and facilitate implementation.
- Additionally, the candidates must counsel students and parents/guardians regarding university-related matters
- Moreover, they must identify and develop leadership and engagement opportunities for students
- Similarly, the incumbents should be able to handle detailed work with accuracy and complete the assigned task
- Likewise, they should work with domestic and international students
- In addition to that, they must commit to maintaining the confidentiality
- Also, the ability to think creatively and meet student developmental needs as well as to work well in a team environment
- Besides, they must have the ability to coordinate program services related to an underrepresented population of students and also communicate effectively in written and oral form with students, faculty, staff and community representatives
Eligibility Requirements
The candidates must have these minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution
- Also, 3-5 years of full-time professional experience at the university/collegiate level
- Additionally, they should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
- Also, they should have experience working with diverse populations
- Furthermore, they must be available to attend events during evenings and weekends and out of town travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Additionally, supervision or supervisory experience with full-time employees
- Also, experience working directly with students, assisting them with the transition and completion of college.
- Demonstrated understanding of proven retention, persistence, and strategies specific to the needs of underrepresented students
- Also, knowledge of counseling/advising techniques, standards, and practices of student services within institutions of higher education
- Furthermore, experience, and effectiveness in developing culturally relevant programs that support underrepresented student retention
