Civil Engineering Open Rank/Tenure Track position is available at the Civil Engineering of Morgan State University.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility will be instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Also, the position should develop a nationally competitive research program supported by any of the state-of-the-art civil engineering laboratories. The candidate is expected to build a strong interdisciplinary research program, given the department’s laboratories, proximity to federal and state agencies, as well as academic and research units across campus, which may include the Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory and Morgan State’s National Transportation Center.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
  • demonstrated expertise in one of the core specializations in civil engineering (structural, transportation and construction engineering).
  • Moreover, the candidate should have authorization to work in the United States.
  • An undergraduate and master degree in civil engineering, or closely related areas
  • A professional engineering license and furthermore, a demonstration of progress toward becoming registered.

  • Establish a record of scholarship and ability to sustain a strong, externally funded research program. This would include research projects funded by federal agencies

  • Engage students in undergraduate research activities, integrate research into teaching, and prepare students for professional certification in civil engineering.
  • Advise senior students in capstone projects and provide career guidance, including involvement in professional organizations.
  • Likewise, actively engage and contribute meaningful service to the department, school, university and the profession.
