Director, TRIO Programs position is available in the TRiO Programs department of Salt Lake Community College.
The core of the role of the Director of TRIO Programs is a commitment to the care for and the success of historically underrepresented students on college campuses. To demonstrate this, the Director provides critical leadership to the College regarding TRIOfederal grants, including strategic planning, grant writing, staff supervision, and budget management. The Director of TRIO Programs is responsible for federally funded TRIO programs, the number of which may increase as future grants receive funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure fiscal compliance with federal regulations and reporting requirements; authorize and document expenditures of all project funds in compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures;
- Prepare, forecast, and monitor annual budgets; oversee awarding of direct grant aid to students; coordinate with the SLCC Grants Administration Office on related compliance issues;
- Ensure programmatic compliance with federal regulations and reporting requirements;
- Supervise program development and provision of services to include the evaluation and maintenance of participants files, identifying selecting participants, academic and career advising, workshop presentations, tutoring
- Supervise personnel including hiring, training, and evaluating staff;
- Provide training specifically to increase the success of first-generation, low-income college students and to have staff actions and decisions comply with grant and federal guidelines
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments;
- Maintain liaison with target schools’ administration and staff and strengthen SLCC’s relationships with the larger community
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field
- Three years of full-time experience in program, personnel, and budget management
- Commitment to and understanding of how to serve historically underrepresented populations in higher education
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in speech
- Knowledge of Federal grant administration and management (specifically TRIO grants)
- Skills in management, training, and supervision best practices
