Position: Clinical Assistant Professor – Forensic Pathologist
East Carolina University is a public research university in Greenville, North Carolina. It is the fourth largest and one of the most reputed universities in the state of North Carolina. The university offers hundreds of undergraduate and graduate courses to over 30,000 students.
Main duties
The tenure track appointment of the Clinical Assistant Professor of Forensic Pathologist will perform the following duties at the university.
- Reviewing investigative reports to determine jurisdiction. Also, determining the need and extent of postmortem examination.
- The direction of assistants in preparing bodies for autopsy including appropriate photography for documentation.
- Performing autopsies and obtaining appropriate specimens for laboratory analysis. Similarly, performing microscopic analysis when appropriate.
- Determination of cause and manner of death. Also, preparation and completion of reports of findings in a timely manner.
- Review of current literature as necessary to assist in the formulation of decisions as well as provide expert witness testimony in court.
- The teaching of medical students, residents, fellows and law enforcement personnel.
- Consult with prosecution and defense attorneys in preparation for court proceedings.
- Furthermore, complete other tasks as assigned.
Minimum requirements
In order to be fit for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor (Forensic Pathologist), the incumbent must have the following qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. In addition to that, North Carolina Medical License is required.
- Furthermore, board certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
