Position Title: Assistant Professor of Sociology

About role
The Department of Sociology and Psychology at the Grambling State University is seeking tenure track appointment in Sociology. The successful appointee of Assistant Professor in Sociology will perform the following duties
- Teach various undergraduate level courses in Sociology.
- Serve and provide assistance on all committees to which he/she is assigned. Similarly, engage in scholarly work and involve students in this work whenever feasible.
- Assist the Department Head in increasing the number of majors in the department. Similarly, assist with curriculum reviews and analysis in the department/college/university.
- Attend convocations and commencements, and participate in other official University functions when requested.
- Ensure that all programs in the department are current and contribute to the mission of the University.
- Assist with providing leadership and counsel for student organizations in the department.
- Furthermore, perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Head/Coordinator, Dean of the College/School, or Provost.
Requirements
In order to be eligible for the position, the ideal candidate must have the following qualification
- Ph.D. in Sociology or equivalent qualification in a related field from an accredited college or university. In addition to that, at least (3) years of teaching or pertinent experience in a related area at the university level.
- Strong commitment in the Sociology field and teaching in the discipline.
- Furthermore, a scholarly academic record of research, publications, and presentations in the field of Sociology or related areas are desirable.
