Position: Lecturer in Health, Safety, and Environmental Management at the International College of Engineering and Management, Oman
Roles and responsibilities
- Contribute to the teaching of academic programs with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental Management. Also, contribute to research and activities as an individual or part of a team.
- Act as a module leader for a number of identified modules and take responsibility for planning as well as coordinating delivery and assessment in those modules. Also, as a project supervisor on dissertation projects.
- Undertake administrative duties relevant to course team and module delivery and leadership (e.g. keep assessment records, records of student advisee meetings, etc.)
- Work with the Heads of Department in the development and operation of courses, and to support the Heads of Department in delivery and/or administration of courses or groups of courses.
- Assure quality assurance and enhancement systems to ensure high standards are maintained and the student experience is enhanced.
- Deliver training courses in the area of Health, Safety and Environmental Management to colleagues, contractors, visitors, and clients.
- Similarly, facilitate or participate in accident/incident investigation process and procedures.
- In addition to that, develop and consolidate contacts with industry/ employers. Also, with other external organizations and contribute to community engagement activities.
Required skills and qualifications
- Masters degree or equivalent in the relevant area. However, a Ph.D. holder is strongly preferred.
- At least two years of teaching experience in the higher education sector.
- Knowledge of, and skills in hazard identification and risk assessment studies
- Ability to teach and supervise dissertations up to undergraduate degree level
- The flexible and innovative approach to teaching and learning
- Ability to undertake research/knowledge transfer. Similarly, an ability to develop, HSE framework, policies, and procedures
- Ability to develop and deliver appropriate HSEM courses
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft package as well as online learning environments.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, audits and audit exercises and produce reports
- Excellent communication skills
