Position: Lecturer of Fashion at Lasalle College of the Arts
Lasalle College of the Arts is a private, non-profit art institution in Singapore. It offers eight art and design schools that offer more than 30 diplomae, undergraduate and postgraduate programs in contemporary arts and design education. Goldsmith, University of London has accredited the LASALLE to provide Bachelors in Arts (BA) and Masters in Arts (MA). LASALLE’s main campus, known as the McNally Campus, occupies a one-hectare site in the Rochor area of Singapore. Its second campus, Winstedt Campus, is located near the Newton area.
Roles and responsibilities
In particular, the position holder will do the following things
- Academic preparation, teaching, and delivery of specialized skills and cognitive-based contents to ensure the students’ learning objectives.
- Work collaboratively with teams within the program and faculty in enhancing the strategic and organizational plans. Similarly, ensures that the program achieves its strategic ambitions and objectives.
- Coordination of academic learning activities, academic administration, and organization. Similarly, conduct assessments and marking, student mentoring and recruitment.
- In addition to that, implement research practices to extend knowledge of an appropriate subject area for the benefit of the program and the students.
- Furthermore, contributing to the academic development of the program in establishing an interdisciplinary curriculum is crucial. Also, work as a member of the program team to support the overall administration of the program and be involved in specific program activities, projects, exhibitions, and other cross-faculty initiatives.
Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- In addition to that, at least 5 years of tertiary-level teaching experience with knowledge of Higher Education Quality Assurance Framework is preferred. Similarly, at least 3 years of full-time relevant professional practice is desirable.
- Relevant professional experience in the fields of Fashion Art Direction, Image Making, and Product, and preferably has experience in Styling and Fashion Writing
- A passion for teaching with the ability to nurture and encourage excellence in teaching and student learning
- Possess excellent communication, organizational and team working skills and academic administration skills
- A positive attitude to research, and preferably a personal research profile
- Possess good knowledge of cultural and contextual studies and regular research practices in higher education specifically in fashion related areas
- Good understanding of current educational and creative industry topics and issues
