Postdoctoral Position on Computational Geodynamics and Software Engineering at University of California Davis

The University of California Davis invites Postdoctoral appointments at the Computational Infrastructure for Geodynamics (CIG) at the University of California, Davis. The positions will have to contribute to the development and support of numerical modeling codes in geodynamics and towards conducting independent research. CIG supports the development and dissemination of software for geophysics and related fields by supporting the development of open-source, community codes and maintaining the infrastructure for its reuse.

In addition to that, the postdoctoral candidates will participate in ongoing CIG Headquarters’ activities including maintaining the community software infrastructure, participating in outreach, and advising community members on software donations. Furthermore, the positions will, therefore, provide the opportunity to develop a reputation as the next generation of computational geophysicists and have interactions with a diverse set of communities.

Requirements 

Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to apply for this Postdoctoral Position at University of California Davis

• A Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering or related field.
• Excellent programming, analytical, writing, oral communication, and interpersonal skills. In addition o that, knowledge of best practices in open source software development.
• The ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team is essential.
• Furthermore, experience in data science.
