Position: Assistant Professor of Political Science
The Department of Political Science, Public Administration, and Leadership Studies at California State University at Stanislaus opens applications for the position of Assistant Professor. Cal State encourages candidates with a strong background on Political Theory and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to important contemporary political issues. The Assistant Professor will have to teach a variety of upper-division Political Theory courses, including, but not limited to: Ancient and Medieval Political Thought (PSCI 3000), Political Thought in the Modern World (PSCI 3011), Marx on the Human Condition (PSCI 3055), and Political Ideologies (PSCI 4050).
In addition to that, the incumbent will have the opportunity to develop courses in their area of specialization. Other than Political Theory courses, s/he might have to teach theory-oriented courses in Comparative Politics, International Relations, or American Politics, and possibly courses in the Master of Public Administration or Leadership Studies programs. Moreover, the yearly teaching load may include a section of lower-division American Government (PSCI 1201).
