About Position
Monash University is seeking highly qualified and experienced Data Scientist to undergo research operation in the specific technique of Data Science. He/She will join a team of a large number of other researchers. Basically, the team will work in analysis, optimization, and programming language technologies. Also, the team will work side by side with the team of the University of Melbourne and CSIRO Data61.
Major responsibilities
- Contribution to the preparation or, where appropriate, individual preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies.
- Involvement in professional activities including, subject to availability of funds as well as attendance at conferences and seminars in the field of expertise.
- Administrative functions primarily connected with their area of research.
- Occasional contributions to the teaching program within the field of the staff member’s research.
- Co-supervision or, where appropriate, supervision of major honors or postgraduate research projects within the field of the staff member’s area of research.
- Attendance at meetings associated with a research or the work of the organizational unit to in relation with research.
Qualifications and skills
- Ph.D. either in Computer Science or Mathematics or equivalent qualifications or research experience
- Demonstrated statistical analysis and manuscript and research proposal preparation skills. Similarly, a solid track record of refereed research publications
- Experience in supervising and working with major honors or postgraduate students within the discipline
- The ability to work both independently in a research environment and as part of an inter-disciplinary research
- team
- High-level organizational skills, and also, demonstrated the capacity to establish and achieve goals
- Excellent written as well as oral communication skills
- A demonstrated capacity to work in a collegiate manner with other staff in the workplace
- Significant research experience in one or more of the following areas: constraint programming, mixed integer
programming, SAT and SAT Modulo Theories, modeling languages, program analysis
