Position: Assistant Professor of Music

Position summary 

The Department of Music at the University of Tennessee at Martin is seeking candidates to appoint as Assistant Professor of Music. This will be a full-time Tenure Track position for nine months. The appointee Music Faculty will perform the following duties

• Teach undergraduate courses in elementary and general music as well as supervise student teachers.
• Provide successful guidance through the process of licensure, including PRAXIS preparation and edTPA.
• Responsible for the administration of the music education area.
• The successful candidate will also coordinate with the College of Education and advise the CNAfME chapter.
• Similarly, candidates will coordinate with faculty from both the Vocal and Instrumental Areas in the instruction of all music education majors, which comprises the majority of our department’s enrollment.

Requirements 

Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be eligible for this vacancy at the University of Tennessee at Martin

• Doctoral degree in music education or ABD with specific completion date or equivalent academic qualifications.
• In addition to that, a minimum of three years of successful music teaching at the P-12 level.
• Record of, or demonstrated the potential for, scholarship, including publications, conference presentations, and other appropriate activity.
• Teaching experience in both vocal and instrumental music education is desirable.
• Furthermore, college-level teaching experience and experience with online teaching preferred.
