Assistant Volleyball Coach Job at Houston Baptist University
Responsibilities
The Assistant Volleyball Coach at Houston Baptist University will perform the following tasks
Coaching
- Serves as a representative of the University displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the HBU community and with the public.
- Assist the head coach in planning and executing practice sessions and also help to formulate workout sessions and game plans.
- Work with student-athletes in developing skills of volleyball and also assesses competitor performance
- Assists in recruiting efforts that involve evaluating current and potential talent at high schools and junior college.
Teaching
- Mentors students on an individual basis and in groups in developing life-skills, character-building activities, and modeling Christian values for students.
Administrative
- Operates within the rules as required by the conference and the NCAA.
- Assists with the scheduling of opponents as well as arrange for equipment, uniforms, and supplies to be available for the team.
- Plan and execute team travel with authority to commit expenditures up to the departmental budget, subject to University purchasing guidelines.
- Assists in game-day operations and court prep.
- Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and counsels with them about issues and progress relative to their coursework.
- Also, supervise team managers as well as assist in designing and monitoring strength and conditioning program.
- Furthermore, perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications to become Assistant Volleyball Coach at Houston Baptist University
- Bachelor’s Degree Required. A minimum of one-year coaching experience is required, preferably collegiate level volleyball coaching experience or higher. However, Division I experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules is essential
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the sport as well as knowledge of typical sport-related injuries.
- Ability to motivate and deal effectively with people and good communication skills
- Must be able to pass the NCAA recruiting test.
- Furthermore, knowledge of college volleyball recruiting is strongly preferred.
