Sexual and Gender Based Violence Advisor position is available in British Red Cross.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice to guide British Red Cross’s strategic direction in relation to SGBV, monitor progress against the objectives of the International Strategy, and attend relevant coordination bodies of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
- Povide hands-on technical support to existing programmes focussed on SGBV in protracted conflict settings (conducting assessments, reviews and evaluation, programme design etc), and capacity building of BRC
- Engage with the wider UK-based humanitarian sector around SGBV, contribute to the Movement’s effort to position itself as a relevant actor on this topic, monitor fundraising opportunities and support regional team to develop funding proposals
- Work closely with the Humanitarian Policy team to monitor developments in this sector and develop key messages, lead on research projects, etc
- Support the SGBV-related part of Diversity and Inclusion mainstreaming efforts across the International Directorate, ensure quality standards and minimum protection standards are met in British Red Cross’s emergency responses, support HR on issues related to PSEA
Salary and Benefits
£38,000 (per annum)
Qualifications and Requirements
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required and fluency in French is highly desirable.
- Relevant postgraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of SGBV issues within protracted conflict settings and the general humanitarian sector
- Strong practical knowledge of case work practices
- Strong knowledge of SGBV/Protection related Minimum Standards and International Commitments
- Strong understanding of policy context and legal framework that frame SGBV interventions
- Strong understanding of programme design, quality programming and effective delivery
- Strong communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills
- Excellent capacity-building and training skills
- Strong internal and external representation skills, to represent the organisation at a range of different fora
- Substantial experience in designing, implementing and evaluating SGBV-focussed programmes, especially in protracted conflict settings
- Substantial experience in designing and leading vulnerability and needs assessments for SGBV focussed programmes
