Deputy Project Manager (BTCA) position available at UNCDF (United Nations Capital Development Fund) of UNDP.
UNCDF makes public and private finance work for the poor in the world’s 47 least developed countries. With its capital mandate and instruments, UNCDF offers “last mile” finance models that unlock public and private resources, especially at the domestic level, to reduce poverty and support local economic development. The Better Than Cash Alliance is a partnership of over 60 governments, companies and international organizations that accelerates the transition from cash to digital payments in order to reduce poverty and drive inclusive growth.
The Deputy Project Manager who will serve as the team lead for Alliance operations and human resources, fundraising and partnerships, represents the Alliance when the BTCA Project Manager is not available and will be reporting to the BTCA Project Manager, P-6.
Key Responsibilities
Convert Alliance strategy plans into member services and advocacy efforts to meet agreed Alliance targets.
Oversee the delivery of operations to support member efforts to digitize payments aligned with the strategy of the Alliance, ensuring that they are efficiently-implemented, managed, monitored and evaluated, meeting or exceeding all targets.
Manage NYC-based operations staff to ensure the delivery of the Alliance milestones and indicators in full compliance with programmes and commitments to funders.
Serve as a resource for staff members to advise on strategic decisions involving delivery against milestones, partnerships and coalition building.
Identify the Human Resources needs of the Better Than Cash Alliance and lead the design, recruitment and management of staff members to ensure the Secretariat is properly staffed to deliver in the most successful manner.
Ensure staff members are working collaboratively and supporting each other to achieve results together.
- Keep regular contact with Alliance Secretariat resource partners and ensure regular updates to keep them abreast of the Alliance progress against milestones.
- Undertake regular Headquarters Visit to socialize the Alliance achievements and delivery beyond focal points to wider donor teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in International Relations, International Development, Public Administration, Finance, Management or other related field
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in progressively responsible positions in diplomacy, advocacy, intergovernmental processes, partnership building and resource mobilization with at least 5 years focused on digital payments, financial services, financial inclusion or a related field;
Proven track-record with results in mobilizing resources and fundraising with governments, foundations and the private sector;
Proven track-record building partnerships with global organizations, liaising and presenting to global
Proven track record in managing teams, providing strategic guidance, mentorship and professional and personal development;
Proven expertise and tangible results in representation;
Experience working with UN agencies and excellent knowledge of UN processes.
- Proficiency in English;
- Fluency in other UN Language either French or Spanish.
