About position
Women for Women International (WfWI) is seeking a Director of Global Human Resources and Organizational Development to design and implement a global organizational structure to support an organization poised for significant growth. S/he will lead and implement WfWI’s strategy to recruit, retain and develop talent and seek to develop an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes excellence and collaboration.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a global Organizational Design strategy including change management strategies, tools, processes and interventions that support a high performing organization; to include initiatives which foster a high-performance culture, while valuing learning, on the job training, assignments, and training;
- Collaborate with Global Leadership Team to set global HR strategic direction, execute human capital strategies, and translate HR strategy into organizational plans;
- Assess and modify performance management, staff development and other systems/processes which impact the satisfaction and effectiveness of staff;
- Work collaboratively with executive management, line managers, Country Offices, HR team, and other stakeholders to build a culture of excellence, appropriate risk-taking, learning, growth, and innovation;
- Oversee employee relations issues for all staff, including coordinating and engaging with the Global HR team and field office-based HR staff. Ensure compliance with the U.S. and international labor laws, supporting audits as necessary;
- Provide tools and guidelines to develop, train, support and implement policies and procedures, domestic and international employment agreements, optimization of HRIS, benefit summaries and compensation guidelines to ensure pay parity across the global organization;
- Maintain a high-quality central HR function, including appropriate technology, systems, and tools, including the use of metrics and data to inform key decisions;
- In consultation with the appropriate experts, resolve complex employee relations issues (such as harassment and discrimination allegations) in a balanced, fair and objective manner, using appropriate counseling, investigative, intervention, and meditation techniques;
- Lead development and execution of employee engagement and retention strategies, plans, and initiatives including the design and implementation of a training, mentoring and professional development and succession plans;
- Manage the performance management process and facilitate the improvement of performance management systems and training for domestic and international staff;
- Manage global and domestic compensation and benefits administration;
- Manage employee welfare, wellness and health programs for domestic and international staff, and provide guidance and support to the country offices’ welfare, wellness and health programs;
- Manage small HR team in HQ, UK and other fundraising legal entities and provide functional leadership to Country Office staff with HR responsibilities;
- Assist with internal communication channels, facilitating positive information sharing throughout the organization;
- Other HR related tasks and initiatives as may be assigned from time to time.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline required, Master’s degree in relevant field a plus
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required; 4 years’ experience managing a team
- Previous international development experience required, with experience working effectively in multicultural international settings
- Demonstrated experience in design and management of change processes, expertise in defining and building an organizational culture
- HR certification (SPHR, GPHR) preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in developing personnel policies and procedures is required
- Strong judgment, decision making and problem-solving, able to deal with ambiguity, self-motivated and self-governed, while working collaboratively in a dynamic organization
- Superior interpersonal, organization, planning and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to handle a heavy workload with competing priorities while working independently as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to develop sound recommendations and effectively plan, direct and evaluate the work of others
- Desire and ability to travel to country offices
