Director of Southeast Asia Program for The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK)

About CTFK (The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids)

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is an American non-profit organization that works to reduce tobacco consumption. Generally, the organization promotes healthy living free of any diseases caused by tobacco and similar toxic substances. Following, the CTFK organizes awareness programs about the harm and cause of tobacco consumption. The New York Times has termed CTFK as the ‘leading anti-tobacco organization’.

About Position

Moreover, to expand its influence and service in the southeast Asian region, CTFK is seeking a qualified and motivated Region Director. The position holder will have to look after the services and programs throughout the countries in Southeast Asia. Basically, the successful appointee will perform the following things

  • Provides strategic leadership in all aspects of TFK’s work in Southeast Asia as well as supervise the Campaign’s in-country consultants.
  • Develop and implement annual strategies and work plans for promoting full implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
  • Represent the Campaign as a speaker at conferences and training seminars in Southeast Asia and globally.
  • Coordinate with global partners in the program areas to promote collaboration and synergy.
  • Directly communicate with donors about the progress of various programs in Southeast Asia when necessary.
  • Also, travel internationally as necessary.
  • In addition to that, perform other tasks assigned by EVP Global Program or the head of the CTFK

Required qualifications and skills

  • High level of familiarity with the policymaking process, media and civil society landscape in Southeast Asia; tobacco control experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, supervising and supporting the development of in-country consultants
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and public speaking skills. Similarly, excellent organizational skills
  • Conversational language abilities in Bahasa, Tagalog or Vietnamese preferred
  • Ability to travel internationally (job requires a minimum of 25% travel). Similarly, an ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain open channels of communications and coordinate with multiple partners sharing the same or similar goals.
  • Also, a postgraduate degree in the area of public health, public policy, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in advocacy, public policy, media, public health, or other related fields; tobacco control experience preferred.
  • Global experience desired. Additionally, substantial experience working in mainland Southeast Asia highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
