Driver in Beijing, China (The World bank)
The World Bank Office, Beijing is accepting applications for the position of Driver to work at the Administrative Service Team of the Country Management Unit. The main objective of the team is to support and coordinate various administrative and logistics tasks and functions for the office.
This position is based in Beijing, China and reports to the Operations Manager. The appointment, at grade level GA, will be for a two-year Term contract, with possible extension based on business needs.
Roles & Responsibilities for Driver:
The incumbent, under close supervision and guidance of the Operations Manager, carries out the following duties and responsibilities:
- Drive Country Director, staff and visiting missions (including senior staff visiting China) to official meetings and functions;
- Deliver or pick up official mails, documents and other articles to/from government agencies, diplomatic missions, banks or other clients;
- Support the office on customs clearance and perform other administrative tasks assigned by the office vehicle dispatcher;
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspection of the vehicle and maintain the vehicle in a clean and tidy condition;
- Understand and assist the vehicle dispatcher in handling vehicle related business, including but not limited to annual vehicle inspection, vehicle servicing and repairs;
- Maintain vehicle mileage logbook and time sheet in a timely and accurate manner;
- Maintain the vehicle in safe driving condition, including ensuring all required documentation (e.g. emergency contact information provided by the office) and first-aid kit requirements are up to date;
- Regularly discuss issues/challenges encountered in daily work with other teammates and propose solutions;
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new drivers.

Selection Criteria in Driver:
- Must be 30 years of age or older;
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of driving experience as a professional driver;
- Remain not at fault for a road accident within the previous three (3) years;
- Must hold a valid local license and any applicable permits (e.g. diplomatic driver license – to be applied for by the hiring organization) to operate the class of motor vehicle that they will be driving with certification of good driving record or equivalent reference check;
- Preferable with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in driving vehicles for embassies, international organizations or development agencies based in Beijing;
- Have high school above or equivalent diploma and be able to understand and communicate in simple conversational English;
- Be able to effectively understand and carry out office rules and instructions, as well as relevant diplomatic protocols and government counterpart requirements to enter their office premises;
- Be able to use computer to search work related information and independently submit work and leave related requests, etc. in the World Bank system;
- Be able to communicate efficiently via texting/webchat and use common Apps for road navigation.
- Be service oriented and able to deliver work assignments in a professional and courteous manner with onsite problem-solving skills;
- Must be medically fit for driving and pass a pre-employment medical examination arranged by the office; the same medical examination will be undertaken every two years after onboarding;
- Attend safe driving training and other work-related training program arranged by the office.
