ESCAP Consultant Opportunity 2026: Business Process Automation & Digital Transformation

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking a Consultant (CON) to support its Innovation Team in advancing business process automation and digital solutions. This remote position offers a four-month assignment focusing on technical and analytical expertise to enhance ESCAP’s digital tools and workflow efficiency.

 Position Overview

ESCAP is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region, promoting resilient and sustainable development through knowledge generation, technical assistance, and capacity building. The Innovation Team works across divisions to identify automation opportunities, streamline workflows, and foster digital transformation, leveraging Human-Centred Design (HCD) and Design Thinking methodologies.

This consultancy will focus on:

• Post-production support and enhancements for the Stakeholders Directory Application
• Refining and assessing automation opportunities in intergovernmental meeting (IGM) workflows
• Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for new tools such as:
  • ESCAP Meeting Intelligence Engine (EMIE)
  • Greenhouse gas inventory and carbon calculator tools
  • UN-CAT computer-assisted translation tool

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant will:

• Provide technical support and enhancements for the Stakeholders Directory, incorporating user feedback and troubleshooting issues.
• Analyze business processes related to stakeholder communications, IGM operations, and administrative workflows to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations, workshops, and technical discussions to refine functional requirements.
• Develop system designs, technical concepts, and implementation approaches, ensuring alignment with ESCAP systems and governance.
• Assess feasibility, integration requirements, and architecture options for automation initiatives.
• Support development tasks including configuration, prototyping, and incremental feature implementation.
• Prepare technical documentation, workflow diagrams, and requirement specifications to guide decision-making.
• Coordinate with ITS and stakeholders to ensure compliance with technology standards, security requirements, and deployment processes.
• Advise on prioritization, scalability, and sustainability of automation solutions for future implementation phases.

 Qualifications & Skills

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced certifications in Microsoft Power Platform are an advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, Power Apps), integrating with SharePoint, Dataverse, Teams, and Azure.
• Proven ability to automate workflows, optimize data extraction, and improve dashboard visualization.
• Strong project management, communication, and analytical skills for requirement gathering and project alignment.
• Languages: Excellent proficiency in English; knowledge of French is desirable.

 Duration & Payment

• Contract length: 4 months, full-time
• Fee: USD 12,000 total, paid USD 3,000 per month upon successful completion of monthly deliverables
• Remote work is allowed.
