The Global Search Business Development team at Microsoft is seeking a strong candidate for the position of Director Business Development. The candidate should lead a team responsible for identifying and executing strategic business development opportunities across the online search space with a specific focus on the Travel and Local segments.

This leader will manage a team, as well as personally propose, structure and execute strategic partnerships with partner companies to improve the features, functionality and reach of our search products and business.

Responsibilities of Director Business Development

Customer and Partner Focus

  • Leverages internal as well as external networks to develop new strategic relationships at the executive level
  • develops relationships as a trusted advisor for the WebXT business, as a whole, and with a particular focus on the Travel and Local segments.
  • Drives internal strategy and provides guidance to the team in executing partnerships.
  • Articulates the value of Microsoft solutions to influence decision making.
  • Looks across accounts to identify and address broad issues and trends.
  • In addition, drives strategic thinking among the team and fosters a culture of customer and partner focus.

Partnership Strategy

  • Encourages customers as well as partners to apply and amend a value proposition in order to create a partnership.
  • Influences internal stakeholders and partners and promotes the value of opportunities.
  • works with stakeholders to influence product roadmap to meet customer needs, leveraging the knowledge of Microsoft and customer issues
  • Provides insight on the industry as well as competitive trends and drives action based on insights.
  • Educates the team on strategy and ensures strategic focus
  • drives knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Identifies and collaborates with a diverse set of stakeholders to develop plans to source deals that target high-priority gaps across technology, product, business, and/or geography.
  • Leverages trends in data to inform decisions across deals.
  • In addition, identifies opportunities and strategies and maps target customers/partners
  • Also anticipates potential issues, raises visibility, and leverages executive relationships to resolve escalations
  • provides input into recommendations on partners.

Deal Management/Governance

  • Develops plans for managing deals
  • Resolves blocking issues using known techniques.
  • Guides their team with load balancing as well as prioritizing targeted deals.
  • Also serves as an escalation point to resolve blocking issues.
  • Collaborates with partners, and Microsoft colleagues
  • ensures that the partners are prepared for implementation.
  • Moreover, develops KPIs to demonstrate achieved business value.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field
  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • In addition, 3+ years of people management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field with 12+ years relevant work experience
  •  Master’s/Advanced Degree in Business, Sciences, or related field with 10+ years relevant work experience
