Purpose of the job:

To manage the Credit Markets group and define its strategy.

Principal accountabilities:

1. Strategy

• Designs the unit’s business plan and investment strategy, as derived from the Bank’s overall strategy
• Also, develops an appropriate asset allocation strategy with a strong focus on diversification, portfolio resilience and liquidity.
• Additionally, keeps abreast of developments in credit markets and makes proposals with respect to new asset classes and investment opportunities.
• Furthermore, contributes to the overall Treasury investment process and ensures strong coordination with the Interest rate Group in order to identify investment opportunities for the Bank.

2. Management of the unit’s daily activities

• Develops, defines and implements an appropriate asset allocation strategy for the group based on BIS risk policies. Establishes desk procedures, dealing guidelines and asset investment targets for the unit.
• Also, manages the unit’s risk and exposure; and is responsible for its P&L. Assesses and monitors the idiosyncratic risk of the portfolio and makes investments in credit products within allocated limits, ensuring transactions are input in a correct and timely manner
• Likewise, provides information on credit markets and investments to the management, including daily reporting to the Head of Treasury

3. Management of the business environment

• Contributes to the development and implementation of appropriate front office pricing and reporting tools for the unit. Develops and maintains a suite of reports to detail the Credit Group’s positions and P&L
• Also, manages relationships with commercial counterparties within area of competence in order to ensure adequate product liquidity and competitive pricing
• Furthermore, ensures an efficient relationship with the Banking Settlements Centre
• Provides technical assistance on credit products and represents the unit at conferences and internal BIS meetings on topics related to developments in credit markets

Qualifications for Head of Credit Markets Vacancy 

• At least eight years of experience in credit markets in a senior, visible position in a significant and highly respected financial institution
• Also, MA/MSc in economics, finance, business or equivalent; Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) an advantage

Skills:

• Clear record of achievement in international banking with experience in managing credit portfolios
• Understanding of the parameters surrounding supranational and central banking institutions
• Excellent verbal and drafting skills in English (knowledge of another major language an advantage)
• Analytical, managerial and leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
