IFC Opens Applications for Regional Industry Director – Infrastructure & Natural Resources Across Africa

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), is inviting applications for the Regional Industry Director (RID) role in Infrastructure & Natural Resources (INR) for North, West, and Central Africa. This senior leadership position can be based in Lagos (Nigeria), Cairo (Egypt), Accra (Ghana), or Dakar (Senegal) and will report to the Regional Vice President for Africa.

This role is pivotal in advancing IFC’s 2030 strategy, which emphasizes mobilizing private capital at scale, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable development in emerging markets. The RID will lead and grow IFC’s INR business, focusing on sectors such as power, transport, municipal infrastructure, telecommunications, oil & gas, and mining, while ensuring alignment with risk management, ESG standards, and IFC’s development goals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and execute INR strategy and priorities in North, West, and Central Africa in coordination with Division Directors, Country Managers, and the Knowledge Bank.
  • Lead the growth and management of investment and advisory portfolios, ensuring geographical balance and impact across FCV and low-income countries.
  • Collaborate across IFC Industries and WBG teams to create multi-sectoral solutions addressing regulatory and market bottlenecks.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with private sector clients, governments, investors, and regional development partners.
  • Represent IFC in regional forums and identify opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships.
  • Contribute to the regional equity strategy in collaboration with the global equity directorate.

People & Resource Management:

  • Supervise INR managers and staff across the region, driving high-performance culture.
  • Implement corporate initiatives to enhance efficiency and client service.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • PhD, Master’s, or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business, or related fields.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in investment, business delivery, and policy dialogue.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and people management skills in a multicultural, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated integrity, decisiveness, and ability to deliver results under pressure.

  • Locations: Lagos, Nigeria; Cairo, Egypt; Accra, Ghana; Dakar, Senegal (to be confirmed)
  • Term Duration: 4 years
  • Closing Date: 11 February 2026
