IFC Seeks Division Director for Africa West 1 Based in Dakar, Senegal
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), is recruiting a Division Director for Africa West 1. This senior leadership role will be based in Dakar, Senegal, overseeing IFC operations in Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Cabo Verde, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia.
The Division Director will report to the Regional Vice President for Africa and lead a diverse team to manage key client relationships, government partnerships, and investment portfolios, driving IFC’s 2030 vision for private sector development across West Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead regional operations, coordinating with IBRD/IDA Divisional Directors and MIGA counterparts on Country Partnership Frameworks (CPF).
- Oversee investment and advisory portfolios to maximize IFC’s development impact while ensuring financial sustainability and risk management.
- Drive business development, strengthen IFC’s brand, and manage relationships with private sector clients, governments, investors, and regional development banks.
- Serve as an active member of the Regional Management Team, contributing to corporate initiatives and strategic decisions.
- Provide visionary leadership, manage the divisional budget, and foster a high-performance, accountable team culture.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with proven expertise in investment, advisory, and upstream business development.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, managing large, dispersed teams in dynamic, multicultural environments.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and collaboration skills in complex organizational settings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
- Commitment to IFC/WBG mission, values, and ethical standards.
