Information Technology Officer (Digital Innovation) position is available in the Information Technology Division (CIO) at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) office in Italy. The post of Information Technology Officer is located in the Digital Innovation team responsible for leading work on digital solutions
and processes in FAO and for addressing innovative approaches and external partnerships (public and private) related to ICTs for development. The Information Technology Officer reports to a Senior IT Officer and performs activities to improve FAO innovation capacity from the point of view of both digital technologies as well as business models and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs one or more activities relating to the ICT product, technology, system or application life cycle, for instance, business needs, requirements definition, ICT solution options, IT solution design, implementation and testing
• Identifies, assesses and manages ICT operational risks proposing mitigation activities and submitting ICT risk information
• Participates in the definition of the overall programme of work, ensuring its consistency with the overall strategic vision and enterprise architecture
• Contributes to service improvement programs and initiatives
• Monitors, audits and reports on service performance to identify as well as address areas of risk
• Contributes to periodic reviews and updates of the strategic vision to ensure it is relevant and up-to-date
• Liaises with relevant CIO teams that provide input to the programme of work to ensure that the programme is in line with overall CIO direction and processes
• Produces status reports, author documentation and prepares presentations for management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Advanced university degree in engineering, computer sciences, data science, business administration, social sciences or related field
• Five years of relevant experience in designing and implementing digital solutions and processes
• Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two or Russian, Arabic, or Chinese
• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable
• Experience in methodologies and analysis of innovation
• Likewise, experience in project management
• Similarly, experience in partnership development with government, private sector and academia
• Familiarity with partnerships and international liaison work
• In addition, experience in working for UN entities
