Position: Obstrecticain at International Committee of the Red Cross
Roles and responsibilities
- Assesses the organization, activities, and performance of the medical/surgical department
- Conducts medical rounds regularly with local doctors; participates in patient assessments, treatment plans, and documentation
- Participates in setting up medical/clinical/surgical procedures and treatment protocols and also, supervises the outpatient and emergency departments
- Ensures rational prescription practices in accordance with valid national and international protocols/standards
- Contributes to preparing orders of medical supplies as well as identifies new needs for drugs and medical equipment, in accordance with pathologies encountered, guidelines and standards. Similarly, contributes to ensuring respect for professional ethics and standards of care as per ICRC protocol
- Implements teaching programs to develop the skills of medical and clinical staff. Also, serve as adviser/supervisor for other ICRC health professionals
- Analyses health statistics as well as contribute to reporting. Similarly, onducts assessments in the area of expertise and contribute to program development
Required skill and qualifications
- University degree in Medicine with specialization in Clinical practice. Similarly, valid license to practice medicine in your residing country.
- In addition to that, working experience in a similar field would be an asset
- Willing to do and serve in humanitarian work.
- Fluency in English (oral and written). Also, knowledge of French will be plus.

- Able to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in a complex environment
- Positive, flexible and able to adapt to challenging living conditions and/or unstable security environment
- Sound knowledge of protocols and guidelines relevant to low-resource settings
- Previous experience within the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement is an asset
