Position: Program Officer
World Wide Fund for Nature (formerly World Wildlife Fund) is an international non-governmental non-profitable organization with head office in Vaud, Switzerland. In overall, WWF is the world’s largest conservation organization with over five million supporters worldwide, working in more than 100 countries, supporting around 1,300 conservation and environmental projects.
Roles and responsibilities of Program Officer
The position holder will perform the following duties under the supervision of the Dir Comms Wildlife Conservation
- Project development: oversee and/or participate in planning, process, and development of projects related to priority initiatives like ivory and rainforest ecosystem restoration efforts with other WWF offices and key partners;
- Provide technical expertise in implementing project design and grant writing.
- Implementation: Oversee and/or participate in the implementation of Ivory HII-related projects in coordination with WWF-US, WWF-China, TRAFFIC, and key partners; support team projects through communicating, troubleshooting, reporting, and other implementation duties.
- Contribute to the development of formative research related to possible ivory consumers and advocacy methods; work with staff and partners to utilize data in solution design and concept testing; collaborate on effective communications strategies to amplify messaging to key consumer demographics
- Support implementation of priority advocacy and campaign efforts by the Wildlife team. Similarly, support Communications Director in the development and implementation of the wildlife team’s communication strategy.
- Develop and/or edit communication materials (including core content and messaging guidance) related to the wildlife team’s priority initiatives with Wildlife Conservation Team staff, PSE staff, Development staff and Communications staff to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Oversee Wildlife team’s social media presence.
- Data visualization: develop PowerPoint presentations, infographics, and other external-facing materials for wildlife team.
Required qualifications and skills
- A graduate degree in a related field is preferred, such as natural resources management, environmental science, international development, or conservation policy
- In addition to that, two to four years of experience in communications, wildlife conservation and understanding of international conservation issues.
