Sustainable Development Officer Job at United Nation
This position is located in the Inter-organizational and Inter-institutional Support Branch (IISB), Office for Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development (OISC), Department of Economic and Social Affairs. OISC supports the work of the General Assembly, ECOSOC and the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, or equivalent) in sustainable development, business administration, management, economics, public policy, public administration, finance, natural resources management, engineering, law, social sciences
or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, communication and policy-oriented work in a broad range of sustainable development issues in academic, national government or international organization is required.
Experience in the substantive servicing of intergovernmental processes is required.
Experience in interagency coordination is desirable.
Experience in working with a wide range of partners in building consensus, including external clients is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
