United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO’s programmes contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Programme Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Education Sector’s contribution to the governing bodies as well as assuming coordination responsibilities for the Programme Management Cycle and for category 1 institutes and category 2 centres. The Programme Coordinator will be performing the following task during the employment:
Coordinate and quality assure the overall contribution of the Education Sector to the Executive Board and General Conference
ensure follow-up on decisions and resolutions and prepare materials to support senior management including briefs, presentations and reports.
Contribute to the Education Sector’s Programme Management cycle in coordinating and quality assuring the preparation of statutory documents (C/4 and C/5), work plans and key reporting documents.
foster programmatic synergies in line with the Education Sector’s strategy and provide support in corporate issues.
Monitor, coordinate and guide the establishment, renewal and reporting of category 2 centres.
Furthermore, provide guidance and backstopping on the above to colleagues at Headquarters, Field and Institutes, anticipate key issues and identify creative and practical solutions, in collaboration with Central services and other Programme Sectors where appropriate.
