United Nations calls applications for the Special Assistant/Administrative Officer to the Director of Global Strategic and Policy Division in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance Office of Human Resources. Interested candidates can apply until 2nd March 2020.
Eligibility
The candidates must meet the requirements to be eligible for the post of Administrative Officer in the UN
- They must have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, human resources management, law or related area.
- However, instead of the advanced university degree, candidates can showcase first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience.
- Similarly, the incumbents should have a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in administration, human resources management, program planning, and management or related field.
- Additionally, they must have an experience at the international level in human resources strategy and policy formulation and implementation of innovation
- Also, experience in drafting complex reports, communications and presentations is required.
- As well as in change management and with representation at or support to intergovernmental bodies and other entities is desirable.
- The UN Secretariat’sworking languages are English and French.
- For the post advertised, the candidates must have fluency in English. It’s good to have knowledge of French. Also, knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Responsibilities
The UN Administrative Officer will do the following duties
- They should analyze new strategic HRM needs, including policy implications, and defines implementation strategies, including for streamlining of processes and improving working methods through the introduction of technology-based solutions for human resources
- Also, they must initiate and coordinate with other parts of the Department, clients and other stakeholders on strategic human resources management policy and program formulation, development, monitoring, etc
- Additionally, they should lead or participate in teams involved in human resources management (HRM) innovation, and change management
- Also, they should monitor program implementation. Then, they should identify opportunities. and risks in the implementation of strategic plans and proposes corrective measures
- Moreover, they will coordinate and supervise the preparation of statements, reports and other material requiring a consolidated response from GSPD, including to the General Assembly and other entities, such as oversight bodies, responses to audit requirements
- Also, they will ensure follow-up, as necessary, and monitors implementation of recommendations made by the Assembly, oversight bodies and auditors
- They should also participate in meetings of legislative bodies and other entities
- Additionally, they will produce major/complex reports for management.
- Furthermore, the applicants will perform other related work as required.
