World Bank Opens Operations Analyst Position in Brazil to Strengthen Country Program Delivery

Brasília, Brazil — The World Bank Group has announced a new vacancy for an Operations Analyst in Brasília, Brazil, as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen program delivery and strategic operations across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The position is offered under local recruitment, with a three-year term, and applications close on February 15, 2026.

The role sits within the Operations sector at Grade GE and is designed for professionals with strong analytical, operational, and country-level experience who can support one of the World Bank’s largest and most dynamic country portfolios.

Supporting One of the World Bank’s Largest Country Programs

Brazil represents a major pillar of the World Bank’s regional engagement. The current portfolio includes 53 active projects totaling USD 9.2 billion, with a strong pipeline extending through FY27 and beyond. As Brazil navigates slowing growth, fiscal constraints, and persistent inequality, operational excellence and strategic coordination have become increasingly critical.

The Operations Analyst will work closely with the Country Director, Operations Manager, and Country Management Unit (CMU) teams to ensure coherence, performance, and impact across the portfolio and pipeline.

A Central Role in Strategy, Planning, and Portfolio Performance

The Operations Analyst will play a cross-cutting role at the heart of country operations, combining data analysis, policy insight, and hands-on coordination with government counterparts and internal teams.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Supporting country strategy instruments such as the CPF, PLR, SCD, and policy notes
  • Monitoring portfolio and pipeline performance using analytical and digital tools
  • Preparing briefings, reports, and strategic notes for senior management
  • Ensuring alignment with corporate priorities including climate, gender, citizen engagement, and results frameworks
  • Supporting Annual Country Portfolio Performance Reviews and quarterly progress reporting
  • Acting as a coordination and integration point across sector teams

The role requires in-person presence at the World Bank’s Brasília office and occasional domestic travel within Brazil.

Bridging Strategy, Operations, and Client Engagement

Beyond analytics, the Operations Analyst will be deeply engaged in client dialogue, supporting coordination with Brazilian government counterparts and responding to operational and strategic requests. The role also involves supporting trust fund monitoring, knowledge program delivery, and high-level visits, including South-South cooperation exchanges.

This position is well-suited for professionals who can balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day operational execution, while navigating complex political and institutional environments.

Who Should Apply

The World Bank is seeking candidates with:

  • A Master’s degree in economics, social sciences, business, finance, law, political science, or related fields
  • At least two years of relevant operational experience with the World Bank or a comparable international institution
  • Strong understanding of Brazil’s political economy and development context
  • Proven quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese
  • Experience working with operational policies, portfolio management, and trust fund processes

Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment, political sensitivity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Why This Opportunity Matters

This role offers a unique vantage point into how large-scale development programs are designed, financed, and implemented. By strengthening operational coherence and strategic focus, the Operations Analyst contributes directly to improving development outcomes in Brazil—supporting growth, resilience, and inclusion at a pivotal moment for the country.
