Applications are open for AstroCamera 2021 International Astrophotography Competition. AstroCamera is an annual competition organized by Hevelianum. It is devoted to astrophotography and addressed to those who love astronomy or photography. You may submit a maximum of 5 photographs.

The idea behind the competition was born in 2011, which was the Year of Johannes Hevelius, marking his 400th birthday. Hevelius, the patron of Hevelianum, was an astronomer and artist from Gdansk, who with great passion and commitment meticulously registered important celestial events, such as eclipses, comets and sunspots. He was the author of the most detailed maps of the Moon.

The first edition of the competition was announced on 28 January 2011. Traditionally, we announce the next editions on the same day.

AstroCamera 2011 was announced 10 years ago, and we have already had 8 editions (the competition was not organized in 2016 and 2017). During that time, the competition has become international, thanks to which we have received about two thousand amazing photos of the sky from around the world!

The potential and imagination of the winners surprises us every time. We hope that this year you can take us on yet another dream trip.

The competition has three categories:

• Deep Sky Objects: photographs of star clusters, galaxies, nebulae, etc.
• Solar System Objects: photographs of planets, the Moon, comets, meteors, eclipses, object transits, etc.
• Astrolandscape: photographs showing landscape elements with astronomic objects.

Category 1: Deep Space Objects

• 1st place – PLN 1,500.00
• 2nd place – PLN 1,000.00
• 3rd place – PLN 500.00

Category 2: Solar System Objects

• 1st place – PLN 900.00
• 2nd place – PLN 400.00
• 3rd place – PLN 300.00

Category 3: Astro-landscape

• 1st place – PLN 1,000.00
• 2nd place – PLN 500.00
• 3rd place – PLN 300.00

Criteria

• Persons who participate in the Competition (hereinafter referred to as “the Participants”) must be natural persons, of age, with full capacity to enter into legal transactions.
• Organizer’s employees and Jury members cannot take part in the Competition.
