The ASEAN foundation invites Youth to participate in the 2019 FutureReady Competition and win a chance to travel to Bangkok, Thailand. FutureReady is an opportunity to learn new digital skills and apply in real-time. As such, the participants for the FutureReady competition must create a blog site on sustainability. Moreover, the participants must develop a front-end of the website based on the Future Ready ASEAN platform’s Digital Citizen track.

Sustainability is one of the priorities for Thailand’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2019. Hence, the candidates must identify a pressing challenge in the ASEAN region across one of the four following sub-themes:

1. Agriculture
2. Biodiversity
3. Climate Change
4. Water

and describe in the blog a concrete and scalable solution to address this challenge.

Winners of the FutureReady ASEAN Competition

A panel of jury will select three winners of the FutureReady ASEAN Competition. Among the winners, the Jury will reward one individual the award of Champion. Also, the two runner up will also receive a cash reward. Further, the champion winner will receive a fully-funded trip to Bangkok, meeting with youngsters around ASEAN, leaders of ASEAN, ASEAN Foundation, Empire Code, Microsoft, hearing and learning from inspirational speakers, prize, certifications.

• Champion: Cash Reward of USD 2,000 and a one-day immersion program at Grab’s office in Singapore
• 1st Runner Up: Cash Reward of USD 1,500
• 2nd Runner Up: Cash Reward of USD 1,000

Also, the finalists and participants, who meet the competition requirements will receive certificates.

Eligibility for the FutureReady ASEAN Competition

In order to become eligible for the 2019 FutureReady ASEAN Competition, participants must adhere to the following rules:

• The competition is open for all ASEAN youth aged 15 to 35. Furthermore, ASEAN Foundation encourages Girls to apply.
• Participants must form a team of 2 individuals and 1 mentor. Moreover, a team can only make 1 submission while mentors may manage more than 1 team.
• All participants and mentors must register on the FutureReady ASEAN website and obtain the following:
  • Digital Citizen – advanced level badge (blue belt)
  • Dream Team Player – beginner level badge (yellow belt)
  • Data Wizard – beginner level badge (yellow belt)
  • Social Innovator – beginner level badge (yellow belt)

Selection Criteria

The Judges of the 2019 FutureReady ASEAN Competition will decide the winners on the following criteria:

• Theme (30%) – The sustainable goal chosen as well as the content.
• Blog Site Appeal (30%) – User experience, the user interface as well as visual aspects.
• Codes (30%) – Use of HTML5 and CSS on Microsoft Visual Studio Code mandatory. Proper file management and organization.
• Instructions (10%) – Ability to take competition requirement instructions.

Additionally, including skills learned through the Future Ready ASEAN website is a plus.

How to apply for the FutureReady ASEAN Competition?

In order to apply for the FutureReady ASEAN Competition 2019, participants, as well as mentors, firstly, must register for the competition. After completing and confirming the registration, candidates may submit their blog as a .zip file. Candidates must submit their blogs before the deadline.

Deadline

Participants may submit for the 2019 FutureReady ASEAN Competition until 13 October 2019, 11:59 pm Jakarta Time. The winners will stand a chance to represent their country in the finals held in Bangkok, Thailand on 28-29 November 2019. However, late submission are not eligible for awards.
