Applications call for Global Changemaker Essay Competition 2020

This Global Changemaker Essay Competition is open to all of the age group 15-30 from anywhere in the world to share their views, stories, creative writing pieces, journalism pieces, personal experiences, opinions, etc. The theme of the competition is ‘We Are Global Changemakers: Young People Leading The Change’. Candidates must submit an essay in English using the official submission form before midnight Central European Time on 15 March 2020. Moreover, essays should be between 3000 and 7000 characters (with spaces) in length and should be the writer’s own work.

Evaluation Criteria 

The team of judges will evaluate the nominations depending on following features

• Theme: How essay creatively relates to the competition theme or one of the topics prompts.
• Focus and Details: Whether essays are well focused and supported.
• Organization and Ideas: How original ideas are, how the writer present and also whether they capture the readers’ attention.
• Use of Conventions: Whether spelling, grammar and punctuation interrupt reading and detract from the meaning of the essay.
• Voice: Whether the writers show a unique perspective.

​Award and Prize 

The organizer will select three winners and five runners up and also award a number of “honorable mentions”. The winners will receive free access to resources available on Changemakers School* for a period of 6 months and will also be featured on Global Changemakers’ social media channels (160K+ reach). The runners up will receive a 50% discount to resources available on Changemakers School for a period of 6 months. Furthermore, winners, runners up and honorable mentions will receive certificates, will be published on our upcoming blog We Are Global Changemakers and will receive an open invitation to contribute to the blog.

Essay Format 

• The essay must be in the English language with a suitable title.
• Similarly, the essay must reflect the participant’s own work and original thinking and may not infringe on the rights of any other party.
• Any quotations or copyrighted material must be identified and referenced.
• Furthermore, the essay must be longer than 3,000 characters and may not exceed 7,000 characters (including spaces).
