Michigan State University has opened applications for the Global Voices Essay Contest, 2020. Interested candidates can apply until 21st February 2020.
- Michigan State University’s Global Youth Advancement Network will build on MSU’s legacy of international engagement and create innovative solutions that will improve the livelihood of millions of global youth.
- In collaboration with other MSU programs, GYAN is increasing the university’s global engagement and building on the university’s land-grant values to address young people’s aspirations for sustainable global prosperity.
- Additionally, Global Voices offers a platform for young people around the world to advocate for their communities, share their opinions, and introduce solutions to local and national challenges.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must meet the following criteria for the Global Voices Essay Contest 2020
- They must be the citizens of South and Central America and Caribbean Nations
- Also, they must be between the ages of 15-24.
Awards
- First Place Winner will receive a laptop computer and a scholarship to attend the 2021 Global Youth Advancement Summit in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.
- Similarly, the second Place holder will have a choice of tablet or camera.
- Furthermore, the Third Place winner will also receive the choice of tablet or camera.
- Moreover, the best essays within each category will be published in a book: Global Voices Vol. II – A Collection of Essays from Latin American and Caribbean Youth.

Important Points
The candidates must write the essay including the following points
- They must describe the inequity that they see in their region, country, or community.
- Then, they must write about what they are currently doing to confront this inequity. Also, how they think this intervention will help (This could be a community project, starting a business or social venture, studying/conducting research, etc.)
- Additionally, what resources (information, opportunities, partnerships, etc.) do they need to scale their intervention
