Liu Shiming Artist Grants 2024 for Visual Artists (up to $5,000)

Applications are open for the Liu Shiming Artist Grants 2024. Designed to support the work of visual artists during the first decade of their careers, the Liu Shiming Artist Grants support the creation or completion of new projects that explore the interplay between traditional cultural or historical influences and contemporary artistic practice.

Visual artists with a minimum of two years and up to ten years of professional experience are invited to apply for a grant supporting either a current or new project. This grant aims to provide financial support and recognition for artists who have demonstrated a commitment to their craft and a significant body of work.

The selection process will involve a distinguished panel, which includes the Foundation’s Curatorial Director, an established artist, and several accomplished representatives from various sectors of the art world. This panel will carefully review applications to ensure that the chosen awardees are well-aligned with the Foundation’s mission to support and advance the visual arts.

Grant of Artist Grants

• Each year, up to five artists will be selected to receive a $5,000 grant. Grants will be disbursed in two payments, with $3,000 by January 15, 2025 and the remaining $2,000 upon completion of the proposed project.

Eligibility for Artist Grants

• Artists from any country may apply, but the application and supporting materials must be submitted in English.
• Applicants must meet any one of the following conditions:
  • Received a BFA or BA in studio arts between 2014 and 2022;
  • Received an MFA in visual arts between 2014 and 2022;
  • Had their debut show (solo or group) at a gallery or juried exhibition between 2014 and 2022.
