Eligibility Criteria for Nikon Small World Competition 2025:
- The photography contest is open to individuals who are 18 years or older at the time of submission.
- Participants must not be employed by Nikon, its affiliates, agencies, or competing microscope/camera manufacturers.
Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition:
- Entrants must use a light microscope to capture their images.
- Accepted file formats include .jpeg, .png, .psd, or .tiff, and files should be submitted in the highest possible quality (bit depth, resolution and size).
- Nikon microscopes are not mandatory, images from any brand of light microscope are accepted.
- Similarly, entries created using AI or AI-generated imagery are prohibited. Nikon may request original image files for authenticity verification.
- Images must involve the use of a microscope objective. Macro photography or images taken with electron or non-optical microscopes are not eligible for this competition for photographers.
- Entries that have already received awards or recognition in other ongoing photomicrography contests will not be accepted.
- All submissions must be in English.

Nikon Small World in Motion Video Competition:
- Videos must be in .mp4, .mpg, .wmv, .avi, or .mov formats.
- Each video must not exceed a maximum duration of 60 seconds.
- Entries must not contain audio or any form of added graphics.
- Moreover, videos should be submitted in the highest possible quality in terms of file size, resolution, and bit depth.
- Videos can be captured using any light microscope.
- AI-generated content is not acceptable.
- Videos must be captured using a light microscope; content from electron or other non-optical microscopes is not eligible.
- A microscope objective lens must be used in creating the video and macro photography entries will not be eligible.
- Videos that have previously received awards or recognition in other active or ongoing photomicrography contests are also not eligible.
- All entries must be in English language.

Benefits of Nikon Small World Competition:
- The top winner in both the Nikon Small World and Nikon Small World in Motion competitions will each receive a grand prize of $3,000.
