United Nations Environment calls an application for Young Champions of the Earth 2020
The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
The program seeks for the next Young Champions of the Earth to tackle the world’s environmental challenges. It is an opportunity to become a Young Champion of the Earth. Young Champions of the Earth is a forward-looking prize designed to breathe life into the ambitions of brilliant young environmentalists. In addition to that, Young Champions of the Earth aims to celebrate and support individuals who have outstanding potential to create a positive environmental impact. Winners will also receive the funding to support their communication efforts throughout the year so that they can produce high-quality materials to share with our audiences.
In 2020, the program will select seven Young Champions of the Earth from each global region: Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, West Asia and two from Asia and the Pacific. Each winner will receive:
The organizer will shortlist and then select candidates from each region for following an open call for applications. A Global Jury will then choose seven winners. Each winner is expected to implement their big idea. They will keep UNEP updates on their progress by producing videos and blogs.
