Applications are open for VI International Skylight Illustration Award 2021. This year the call for the International Skylight Illustration Award returns in its sixth edition. The expectations are very high because every time the contest brings very talented artists with which they make incredible books.
It is only to remember what the last two versions of the award have been: in 2019, the winner was the Spanish illustrator Bea Lozano (with whom we are working on a beautiful book); and in 2017, it was the Iranian artist Mohammad Barrangi , author together with Juliana Muñoz Toro of the book roll A la sombra de un naranjo , recently published by Tragaluz.
More than ever, our common reality is uncertainty. Everything seems to be changing and we don’t know where to go, but it is clear that the old structures no longer respond to the needs we have as a society. In a context like this, it seems essential to rethink words like “revolution”. What would it be like to rebel in these confusing times? Through the illustration that you apply for the award, we would like you to reflect and contribute ideas about what this word means, seen through today’s eyes, and what possibilities it opens for the future of our communities.
The submission message should include the contestant’s personal data (full name, age, ID number, nationality) attaching the illustration. This must be a high-quality JPG image file (100% – RGB). It can be either horizontal or vertical in direction, and must not exceed five megabytes and 150 dpi.
