The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand call application for World Jewelry Design Awards 2020. Basically, the aims of this award are to support the jewelry design, to create awareness amongst the public and to a stage where new generations designers to be able to showcase their products to business buyers, the institute has hosted an annual jewelry design awards inviting students, passionate designers, and the public to have an opportunity to express their creativity and to push energy and enthusiasm towards the gem and jewelry industry.

Theme

This year, the theme will be under “Beyond Jewelry: Artistic Elegance of Gems” where all applicants are able to express their creativity with no limitation in designing a jewelry product that can be more than jewelry by focusing on the elegance of gemstone. Applicants are able to use any type and any color gemstones with any kind of material in their design.

Objectives 

The objectives of the World Jewelry Design Awards 2020 is to s

• Support and to be a stage for new generation designers such as students, designers, and passionate public, where they are able to present their designs to both domestic and international audiences.
• Support designs that are possible to prove and trade in the gem and jewelry industry, or to be able to develop an existing design piece that can be a career opportunity.
• Gain awareness in design and to show new generation designer’s potential to both local and international audiences.
• Aid new entrepreneur who joins the institute’s New Entrepreneur Project to be able to showcase their work.
• Create a strong image for the institute by focusing on educating and supporting Thai entrepreneurs; to emphasize Thailand as the global gem and jewelry trading hub.

Prizes 

• The Winner receives 4,000 USD cash with honored trophy, a total of 1 prize
• First Runner-up receives 3,000 USD cash with honored trophy, a total of 1 prize
• Second Runner-up receives 1,500 USD cash with honored trophy, a total of 1 prize
• Consolation prize receives 1,000 USD cash with honored trophy, a total of 1 prize

Submission Requirements 

• The submitted design must be related to the theme and must contain a minimum of 3 design pieces in one collection; there must be one necklace design and eligible to feature with any other types of jewelry such as rings, bracelets, earrings, etc. Please submit one collection per one submission, applicants can submit up to 3 collection
• Applicants can submit their design as an individual or as a team. Similarly, applicants have the freedom to use any type of technique, materials, or computer program to design their jewelry pieces.
• There is no limitation to the technique or material used in designing the jewelry piece.
• Every design submitted must be an original piece, the design must not be commercially produced and also have not been awarded in any competition. Furthermore, plagiarism content and design will not be accepted nor reviewed by the judges.
