Young people are essential for advancing sustainable food systems and ensuring global food security. Ireland’s Food Vision 2030 strategy aims to establish the country as a leader in Sustainable Food Systems, emphasizing the vital role of youth. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) will sponsor an Irish Youth Delegation for the World Food Forum 2024, happening from October 14th-18th at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The purpose of the Irish Youth Delegation will be to provide an opportunity for engagement, learning and networking at the flagship World Food Forum event and recognise the leadership of young people throughout the agri-food sector in Ireland. The selection of Ireland’s youth delegation to the World Food Forum will be coordinated by the National Youth Food Forum and Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The World Food Forum will unite global experts, passionate change-makers, and visionary leaders under the theme: “Good Food for All, for Today and Tomorrow.” Established in March , the Ireland’s chapter of the World Food Forum, aimed at enhancing coordination and leveraging opportunities for youth involvement in food systems. This youth-led initiative facilitates networking and collaboration on sustainable food systems and engagement with policy platforms both domestically and internationally.
