UNESCO Intercultural Dialogue Training for Museums

UNESCO, in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), has unveiled the world’s first online training program dedicated to intercultural dialogue for museum, culture, and heritage site professionals. As part of the broader “Fostering Positive Social Transformations in AlUla” initiative, this course empowers participants to transform heritage spaces into platforms of connection and understanding.

What the Training Offers

  • Delivery Format: Five interactive Zoom sessions, every Thursday from September 18 to October 16, 2025, 12:00–14:00 (GMT+2)
  • Live Museum Model: Explore the concept of heritage sites as dynamic spaces for dialogue, leveraging artifacts and crafts to facilitate cultural exchange.
  • Practical Facilitation Tools: Learn to create safe, empathetic spaces for inclusive and open dialogue grounded in intercultural communication principles.
  • Certification: Participants who complete all sessions receive a UNESCO certificate.

Who Should Apply?

Ideal for professionals involved in:

  • Museum and World Heritage site management
  • Public engagement, visitor learning, and educational programming

Fluency in English and commitment to participating in all sessions are required.

Application Details & Deadline

  • Deadline: Submit applications by September 5, 2025
  • Because spaces are limited, early applications are encouraged; successful candidates will be notified a week before the training begins.

Why This Matters

Heritage institutions play a vital role in bridging cultures. This UNESCO-led course equips professionals with the tools to activate museums and heritage sites as modern arenas for empathetic, inclusive dialogue—strengthening global understanding through immersive, heritage-based learning.
