Job Description: Communication and Event Management Intern at GIZ

Transport accounts for about 25% of global energy-related CO2 emissions. To meet Paris climate goals, a significant shift to decarbonize transport by 2050 is essential. GIZ’s Mobilize Net Zero project is key to this transition, aiding governments in their efforts to decarbonize transport through international partnerships. The project facilitates knowledge exchange, peer learning, and policy-maker awareness to speed up the shift towards sustainable transport systems.

Funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), GIZ is seeking a proactive and innovative Communication and Event Management intern. This role involves supporting both external and internal communications and managing event planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in external and internal communications for the “Changing Transport” brand, including content creation and maintenance for the website changing-transport.org, social media, and newsletters.
  • Help plan and execute onsite and online events, including communication, program design, and participant management.
  • Contribute to the editorial planning and development of content for online and print materials (website, social media, publications).
  • Design and implement online campaigns.
  • Manage internal knowledge and handle various ad-hoc tasks related to promoting sustainable mobility.
