The security assistance mission established that the Gambia’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) has a supervisor at G5 level. The SOC Supervisor is also the radio technician and will co-ordinate the activities of the SOC and be responsible for all aspects of the SOC’s day-to-day operations, the operational status of the security communications system, and will look after the technical radio work for other security communications, repairs and maintenance, and the programming of the Gambia’s radio network equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities of SOC Supervisor

1.) management of the Security Operation Centre

• Supervise the SOC operational assistant,
• Establish the duty rota with the SOC assistant for SOC operations to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Ensure that the handover is carried out correctly and that the correct data is recorded in the logbook,
• Manage, administer, and report on all communications and other equipment in the SOC,

• Staff monitoring
• Keep staff lists up to date.
• Management of SMS alert system
• Supporting the SOC with safety information, including media monitoring and others.

• Providing technical support to UN organizations for the implementation of Minimum Security Standards (MIST) and Security Communication Systems (SCS).
• Installing and programming very high frequency (VHF) and high frequency (HF) mobile communications equipment and repeaters (VHF).
• Maintain all telecommunications equipment for UN organizations.
• Preparing technical specifications for the acquisition of telecommunications equipment.
• Assisting with the drafting of technical documentation on radio operating procedures.
• Assessing the need to upgrade or replace telecommunications equipment for all organizations.

• Train and orient UN staff on the handling and use of telecommunications equipment/systems as required,
• Liaise with HR/administrators of UN agencies to maintain a database of contact information such as call signs, SELCAL and telephone numbers,
